Can Hypnosis Really Stop People Smoking?

People often ask me; “Can Hypnosis really stop you smoking?”

The simple answer is...No.

Hypnosis cannot make anyone do anything. And I don’t have the power to stop anyone smoking. If I could stop people smoking, I wouldn’t be working from an office in Argyle Street. I’d be on the Oprah Show!

What Hypnosis can and does do, is reinforce your intention to remain a non-smoker. This simply means that once you have decided you are stopping smoking, hypnosis works on the unconscious mind to reinforce that decision and allow you to stay a non-smoker.

Anyone who claims to be able to stop you smoking through Hypnosis is not being honest or fair.

So when you hear people say they stopped smoking with Hypnosis, what they actually mean is that they decided to stop smoking, and then the Hypnosis backed up this intention. They had already decided to stop before arriving at the Hypnosis clinic. And those people who say they tried Hypnosis and it never worked, they had never had the real intention to stop, whether they knew it at the time or not.

Clients come into my office all the time who say things like; “My wife wants me to give up” or “I need to stop for my health” but when I dig a bit deeper I find that although they think they should stop, they don’t actually want to stop. In these cases I can’t offer a session as I know it will fail, and that would not be good for the client or for me.

So, if you are just thinking of giving up, maybe feeling you need to stop, or because someone else wants you to then Hypnosis is not for you.

However, if you have absolutely  made the decision to become a non-smoker, then Hypnosis is an excellent way to ensure your continued success.

Hope this clears things up!
