April 2008

April has been a very calm month! That’s because the month started with myself, and one of my previous clients taking part in a Meditation Weekend at the Samye Ling Buddhist Retreat nr Lockerbie in the Scottish Borders. The weekend was designed for those who were already familiar with meditating so there was very little talking and lots of meditating, which was great! Although it was based on silent meditation, people were free to come and go as they please. The temple at the Samye Ling is a wonderful place to just sit and meditate, and the Tibetan Tea Rooms serve the best coffee! The food is also delicious and all in all it was a lovely weekend. In fact, I loved the venue so much I have booked it for a Heal Your Life Workshop I’m running in September.

As many of you know, my lovely son Ryan decided last August to change his lifestyle to become healthier, slimmer and fitter (a perfect example of how you cannot change other people until they are ready to change) is still doing fabulously well with his Weight Loss and has now lost a total of 5 stones since he began in August. This from someone who used to think Hypnosis was voodoo! We are all so immensely proud of the way he has turned his life around and every time we see him he just looks healthier and healthier. I’m still trying to persuade him to have his photo on the website but no luck so far! Watch this space!

I received 2 really lovely emails this month from previous clients who feel their lives have changed so much since we worked together. And I also received a text message from a client who in the past has struggled immensely.  The message simply said, ‘This is a good day to be alive’. That’s what makes my job so fabulous.

I gave me second speech at Glasgow Toastmasters on 15th April. The theme of the speech was ‘Get Organised’ and so my speech was all about how important it is to be organised when public speaking. Instead of just delivering a speech and trying to make it sound organised, I instead told the true story of the first time I was asked to give a speech at a local rotary club. I thought at the time it would be a good idea not to prepare, but instead just to ‘use the force’ .

Big Mistake! It ended up a bit of a disaster (although it was a great learning experience!) and I don’t think the club will be in a hurry to invite me back!

My next role at Toastmasters is Table Topics Master on 29th April...and I have a little surprise in store! Anyone is welcome to come along to the club, and it’s always a fun night.
