Welcome

Hypnotherapy - what happens during a session?

Prior to any Hypnotherapy taking place there will be an Initial consultation. Your medical and personal history will be taken and then we'll discuss thoroughly the issue or presenting problem to be resolved. We will work together to decide the best treatment approach, the number of recommended sessions and the likely cost.

Any questions or concerns you may have will be answered so that you feel completely comfortable with all aspects of your visit to The Moreland Centre. Please note that if I feel I am not the best person to help you, I will tell you this, and try to help you find someone who is.

The Hypnotherapy Session will take place in my relaxing office in Argyle Street, Glasgow. You will sit in a very comfortable chair and can help yourself to water and mints. All phones will be turned off to ensure no disturbance and you can then begin to relax, perhaps while watching the tropical fish swim lazily in the tank.

I will then ask you to make yourself comfortable, and will put on some relaxing music and ask you to focus on my voice or your breathing, to gently lead you into hypnosis.

In the gentle hypnotic state you will feel very relaxed and will hear everything I say. You may be so relaxed that you stop moving, but occasionally involuntary movement will occur, such as the fluttering of eyelids or slight movement in the hands as the muscles relax and the pulse and breathing rates become slower. If it is your first time experiencing Hypnosis, the hypnotic trance may be light, but this is absolutely fine. The depth is not relevant to the outcome, and a light trance can produce excellent results.

Under hypnosis your unconscious mind becomes open to new suggestions, and so beneficial suggestions will be given, as well as visualisations and even funny stories. This will help your unconscious mind to change any negative perceptions to positive ones. Your unconscious mind can then begin to make the changes you want, gradually changing your behaviour.

On awakening you will feel relaxed but refreshed, just like you do after a really restful sleep.

We will then discuss your Growth Work which may be listening to a CD, reading a book that I give you or applying Self-Hypnosis.

It’s safe to drive after a hypnotherapy session although any CDs given should not be listened to while in a car.
